This weekend was quite a busy one since I went to Hirai and visited my friend Ren then proceeded to his house. I didn't have my computer at the time so I really had no chance of updating the blog. Unfortunate yet, I did manage to add more pics to this post.

Once again, I bring you back to life. This relation is bittersweet.

This journal of sorts has been neglected for quite some time. In turn, I have decided to wipe the dust off that had settled upon it during the latter half of 2011. So here we are in 2012 with a whole years worth of stories to tell. Although things in my life have drastically changed since the last post, this blog has remained the same. Dormant and cold for an entire year. Feeling somewhat sorry for the lack of usage and visitation, I have decided to conjure up this update in between having random conversations taking place in my dorm's lobby between a couple new friends and giving blank stares to the report that was due last Tuesday. I also felt that it would be a good way to start off the new year.

After reading Gary's blog, I must admit that I had a sort of revelation that inspired me to create a new post(Much kudos to you sir). With that being said and homage being paid, the first thing that I would like to inform the people who come here (and those who randomly come across this blog while misspelling the word "fresh blog") is that I will now use this blog to document my experiences in Japan. Unfortunately within the first month of being in Japan, I broke my camera and as much as I would like to say that my camera broke for no reason, I must be honest and state that I did in fact, break my camera. So that leaves me with one option for photos, my phone. The quality isn't great yet, I don't really have any other choice. Anyway it should be the thought that counts but in reality you will think my photos are shit for not being in HD format.

A bit cliche but for the better, I will be doing the whole "pic-a-day" thing where I take a picture everyday and give a brief explanation about the pic. No specifics on aperture, no multiple pictures about this and that, and no long ass essay-like explanations. Just one picture, the name of the setting, photo title and a brief thought...everyday. Hopefully, I keep this going.

On another note, my last final is in 11 hours and I still need to write a short essay and study for the exam(which I might add, also contains essay questions). All of this studying has made me realize something very interesting about people. In my current place, people act like they care but, in all actuality do not give a flying fuck about you. There are good ones, perhaps not ones that I can trust but, they have good hearts...I can feel it.

My God how I love you and hate you at the very same time, how...Bittersweet?(K.West) I just thought I should cite that just in case some people view it as plagiarism of idea. Redirect to subject matter, this history has taught me a lot about how crazy Asia was in the past but then again, what country hasn't fucked up yet? Nevertheless, I am glad I am learning about this part of history as I have never delved so deep into it previously.

Anyway, I forgot to update about my purchase of a custom Specialized Langster fixed gear bike that I picked up about a month or so ago. I've been riding it all over the place and it provides a good priming for the Century Ride later this year. The unfortunate news (yet, somewhat fortunate) is that I might be in japan at the time of the ride and therefore, I might miss it. I also still have my vintage 1986 Bridgestone 400 that I just truly adore and will do everything to try and keep it running. It really is nice for those longer rides but, the fixie is great for the exercise.

God, I just met the most stunning woman since I have been at HTIC. Somewhat unexpected to say the least but, it's the ones that unexpectedly pop into your life and can create dramatic change. I hope its for the better and not a "drama creator." I really want to tell her how beautiful she is but, its quite hard for me being shy and all. If it's worth it, I'm pretty sure I'll find the courage to tell her (in my sweetest James Blunt voice) "You're Beautiful!" because in my eyes, she really is an all around beautiful person. However, love is fickle and you can never know the outcome and with that being said, I must understand that this is all a gamble. But before you criticize what I just said and question me, just understand that I am a logic-whore who analyzes things to find the best possible outcome. A relationship however, does take two people to make it work and being that I just met this girl, I'm not about to tell her that I love her, cause I really don't know her inside and out (perverse pun intended?). Anyway, I simply just want to get to know her and boost her self esteem and as long as she doesn't let her ego get the best of her, I might actually commit to a long distance relationship with the bird.

To understand one's self can justify what needs to be done in order to finish the job. It is when you don't understand yourself that you lose focus. Speaking of which, things can get pretty complicated when you go to a International University where everyone is trying to learn the English. I swear, all I ever do here is correct papers. Today I just had some random dude tell me that I should buy him something for his birthday. Huh? Yeah mon, things are starting to trip me out.

It makes me wonder if Edward Scissorshands was ever directly translated into Japanese.
You see all I want to do is help, but all that ever happens is that I get taken advantage of.
I am an adult, so therefore I must act as one. I always say 3o is the new 20 for two reasons. People are living to be older but also because people take longer nowadays to grow up.

Bullshit aside, I've got a midterm to study for.

I'd be writing here a lot more often.

It's amazing when I look back on some of the previous posts and go back to those particluar times within the past 2 years. It's amazing how much I have faced and how much I have persevered. I haven't taken the easiest route in life, nor the hardest but, somewhere in between the spectrum, is where I lay. I would say it's been a great adventure to my current point and although the times may get overwhelming, I know I must stick to it.

Status Quo
I am currently studying at Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) and so far, it's been an interesting experience. The people here seem fine on the outside but, I am not sure about their interior motives, it can be very frustrating at times. I leave for Las Vegas in 3 weeks and hopefully, I will be in Japan by the fall. Recently, I just had my DUI case re-filed and got convicted of all charges (yey). Unfortunately this means that I wont have my license for another year and I owe the state about $2500.00. Now let's be honest, this isn't the first time I 've been slapped back to square one however, it's nevertheless a shitty place to be. With that said, I hope y'all understand that I ain't gonna let this get me down...

Sorry, for making my first post of 2011 so effin' late.
As always, I'll try to update as much as possible but, please do not be alarmed if I am away for a while. This site is the opposite of my facebook and therefore gets checked and updated a lot less frequently.

So now what?
Now, I just do my work, go to school and do my best in everything that I do. Wish me luck, for this year is gonna be one hell of an adventure.

Did I just break my own rules? Already? Eh, whatever...I guess I'll ramble on for just a bit and give you folks a small update(and a reminder for myself).

I was supposed to grab coffee with a student from Japan today. However, I received the cancellation notice with no means to reschedule. Of course, I am no stranger to this type of rejection and in turn, I had a slight feeling that this was gonna happen. I could have easily let this get me down but, I am vowing to keep an optimistic attitude. Nothing changes from here for any change in attitude would lead to perception of immaturity(At my age, that is the last thing I need =P). Anyhow, the girl is sweet, smart and has a great heart(no rhyme intended)however, a bit young and possibly naive. K. west once said "People that you meet are like the seasons, and everything that happens is for a reason." and while I'm still trying to find reasoning for the continuous rejection that occurs, I can learn something new each time it happens.

In other (non-depressing) news...
I started to really support the Star Advertiser these days. I try to pick up a paper at the local market every morning before heading to school. Although I still happen to read the news on-line, I do enjoy the paper for the crossword puzzles and horoscopes.

I'm sure things will get sorted out and I'll keep this positive attitude for as long as I can.

I will let you folks know that I got dismissed of my DUI case and picked up 2 Bridgestone bicycles. I hardly go drinking anymore (because of the usual cases of bad luck that follow) and I have started surfing again (every Saturday at canoes with the pops). I know its been a while and I apologize for that but, I assure you that whenever I do happen to purchase my camera...it's on.

I feel like I'm gonna get a lot done during this all-nighter.

Gonna head out for some RedBulls to keep the mind alert. It sure proved itself worthy in the last F1 race at Sepang. 'Grats out to Sebastien Vettel and the RB team in winning the Malaysia GP. Anyway, I gotta finish up this psychology homework before class starts at 9:15 a.m. and I also decided to finish "The first 24" blog by tomorrow as well. Got a long day ahead of me but I am determined to stay focused throughout the night. A vicious combination of RedBull, Silver Haze, and the Thievery Corperation station on Pandora, should be quite a good mixture to keep me going.

Slept-in through the whole thing.
Didn't panic since I was already on higher ground.

I thought this was a great exercise in disaster preparedness nonetheless. Many of the people took the warning seriously and evacuated if they were in areas of possible threat. In typical Hawaii fashion, beer was amongst the necessities included in the survival kits of many.

This upcoming Friday...

...will be the Chinese New Year Edition of Downtown Honolulu's monthly First Friday block party.

As you may have read in my previous posting, I got my camera jacked at my birthday Barbecue (まじでかこ悪い, I know). Of course, I feel that this upcoming event should not be participated in without proper photo documentation. Therefore, I have decided to equip Scavenger Pro and picked up (not stolen FYI) a temporary Samsung brand point and shoot camera. Being that I have used this camera before, I am quite familiar with it. The lens happens to be amazingly sharp for Samsung grade glass and it is a 10MP (which is way more than I need). I will also bring out another camera which I found while cleaning my room, a 35mm Minolta X-700 MPS with a manual 50mm lens.

I will post the results when the prints come back from processing.

The first day of my new life.

Welcome 2010. It's an honor to finally meet.

The biggest turn of events happened to me at the mark of the new decade. Not more than 5 hours into my new year I lost my car, as well as my license and worst of all, I lost my camera(@Birthday Party). This definitely turned my World upside down and really grounded the arrogant prick I used to be. They say things happen for a reason, and this "turn of events" per se, definitely happened for a good reason. I needed to grow up.

I initially envisioned my 2010 to be a laid back year. For one, it will be the year that I finish up at Kapiolani Community College, and move on to the "bigs" at the UH Manoa campus and second, the Chinese astrology books my father purchased for me and my sister read that, the "Tiger" years are the best for us "Pigs".

Nonetheless, shit happens and when shit happens, you gotta make that shit turn into gold.

My New Years Day was not spent celebrating but, instead clearing out my wrecked car and analyzing my actions. I felt stupid, and I still feel stupid but I know that accepting stupidity is the stupidest thing to do. Despite the ridicule I may recieve, I know that I must now catch The Bus to both school and work. Of course, I've never really had a problem with public transportation but, it can't beat the excitement of driving.

Today was the first day of my new life...
My father had an expected reaction, not a single word spoken to me the entire day. As I was about to depart, I told him "bye dad!" with enthusiasm, an uninterested moan and a lazy wave was his only reaction. I then ran into my mother who had just arrived home from her half day at work. She insisted on driving me down to Pearl Ridge mall where I could then take the #20 bus to "straightshot" it into Waikiki. I refused and let her know that I need to suffer for what I've done. I started my journey.

The bus ride opened my eyes.
Not just through various colors and sights but deeper.
I understand a bit about myself and I am trying constantly trying to find out more. I understand that I gotta do what I gotta do. It's when you have nothing when you start to appreciate the small things and when you appreciate the small things you appreciate life. I am becoming older thus, i must also simultaneously become wiser as well. I can't be living the "invincible" life I've been so used to living. I know that I must change as a person and accept faith as it comes but, also use good judgement to determine my faith. That is how you read the future.

So, like every girl I've ever loved...
We both go our separate ways, and in this case, we will never see each other again. My only memory is the black weighted shift knob I used in order to connect with her.

You're always in my heart...

I almost forgot to add(actually I did, and it's terrible that I did)...My friend was in my car and it was stupid for me to be driving 5 mph over the speed limit cause I almost killed him. It was that 5 mph that could have prevented that crash. I highly respect him for backing me up to the police officer after the crash and I greatly appreciate him bailing me out of jail. Sorry for everything.

So what would you do?

ごめんね

Quite sad actually because it's not like I didn't have time to update this blog. Perhaps you could call it laziness or unmotivated but, I prefer to use the word "fatigue". Of course, this does not give me an excuse for the lack of updates this journal (of sorts) has seen. Strangely enough, I feel that I somewhat need these gaps in updates in order to conjure up a post with depth but, like I said earlier "no excuses". I also feel somewhat mad at myself for not posting the 1 year anniversary of this blog (obviously this was something of great importance.sarcasm) but, just in case you wanted to know my first post was on the 17th of November 2008. The only thing I can feel good about blaming for the delay is Modern Warfare 2. It's great stuff (in my opinion) but, if you happen to be a girl who is pissed off because your BF is addicted, I only have one piece of advice: "don't hate the player, hate the game".

So here I am, sitting at this same coffee shop where this blog was born. One year and about a month later, I am looking back at many of the events that have occurred during this past year. Lot's of things have changed, some of it is good and some of it is well...not so good but, I can say that I have learned lessons within each experience. I have found that dwelling on the past simply keeps me from moving forward, and I think the same may be for a lot of people. Anyway, I'll save the "Zen" stuff for my end of the year blog(which I hope I am not too *ahem* "fatigued" to complete).

Going off of the last post, I didn't end up buying the RX-7 but I did get something related to it. Definitely not as clean as the RX, or in as good shape but, I think I made the right choice. I ended up buying a 1994 Mazda Roadster in 5 spd MT. I definitely had to put a bunch of time, money and, most important, love. When I first got the car, it was in such terrible condition. I couldn't drive it more than 10 miles without overheating, tires were bald and, the clutch would work intermittently(Dealing with all of these problems at the same time, really fucking sucked). Considering I only picked this thing up for $1700.00 USD, I'd say it was somewhat expected. However, with a little bit of time and another $1700.00 later (Cooling system overhaul, New Tires, Redline trans fluid and diff fluid, Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Oil Change, clearing drain plugs) the change is definitely evident in a positive way. Servicing everything left me pretty much broke but, I consider transportation essential and it's even better when you can enjoy that trip. It's definitely the start of a good relationship.

Speaking of relationships, it's Christmas time again *sigh*. Normally, it's the best time of the year to spend with someone(I guess cause its one more present you can count on) but, I will be alone this year. Looking at the situation optimistically, it worked out nicely cause I really couldn't afford buying a Louis for anyone at this particular moment(not to say that all girls I date deserve Louie bags but along with trust, they will both come with time).

On another note, I have this weird stigma with Japanese girls. Perhaps I'm not trying hard enough? I'm not sure what it is really but, all I do know is that I haven't had the best of luck with them (the ones in HI at least). I guess I just have to wait till I go to Japan in March of next year in order to figure out whether or not I should just give it up (I highly doubt that though).

The 大 Update.

First things first...
I would like to congratulate the entire Brawn GP Formula 1 team on an excellent season and their sweep of both the Driver's and Constructor's Championships. Although the season has one race remaining, the title has already been determined.
Job well done and well deserved.

Lately, my shutter finger has been itching(especially with the lack of a SLR camera) and in turn, it's made me quite trigger happy. I recently brought my camera into my workplace and shot a couple of shots off (the fact that we were slow kinda helped). I also did something quite different from the previous pictures I posted...I basically desaturated everything. Yep, this set is shot purely in black and white and like usual, I did a slight edit in order to compensate for the lack of glass quality the W-120 carries...I wouldn't be surprised if it was made out of plastic =P (i keed, i keed) honestly isaight.

Anyway, without further adieu...

School is a never ending journey. However, today was like no other day I've ever experienced. Normally I'm the shy guy in the corner, fixated on his homework, with earphones inserted playing the randomness that makes up any iTunes playlist. Quite the latter, I had the pleasure of having lunch with beautiful young woman in which we happened to carry a great conversation. Though the chance of getting with that one are pretty much slim to none, it was still nice to have a change from my normal 一人で lunch session, which tends to take no longer than 15 minutes and is usually "on the go".
Well, I guess it doesn't hurt to dream. lol.

Other than that, school and work are same ol' same ol'...difficult yet enjoyable(well maybe difficult is a bad adjective to describe work =P).

Might pick up this 1984 RX7.

So here I am, sitting in front of my computer updating this blog (because doing my math homework at this point is useless), lightheaded with a bit of pressure buildup on my temples asking myself, "Why the fuck did I just type all of this?". Truth be told, it's because I recently found out that quite a bit of people actually read this thing and really, that was quite pleasant to my ears.

I hate being sick. Seriously.
For me, it's unavoidable to the point where I just expect to contract the yearly updated virus of the one that went around in the previous year. The common "sick" I experienced last year was just plain nasty and included a variety of symptoms that could have composed a prix fixe menu properly titled something like "un goût de mort", where the fixed price is a week in bed and a box of tissues as the tip.

Luckily, this year's sickness feels a lot more mild to the point where I can still function and take care of everyday errands and appointments. Of course, let's still keep in mind that I am (currently) sick and I am actually experiencing symptoms however, it's just...mild. I do have this lightheaded feeling that occurs once in a while as well as a never-ending runny nose but, it's nothing major plus I can't afford to waste any time.

Between work, school, and sleep; I have quite little free time. Lately, I have been meaning to go up to tantalus in order to shoot a couple of pics off however, I decided to go down to my favorite coffee shop instead. Unlike Sinclair library, there is A/C (which doesn't blow as frigid as the Hamilton Library), coffee and food are readily available for purchase, and I don't need a school ID (which I feel idiotic about losing) to enter. Working on this blog has been like a interesting non-platonic relationship, where I keep coming back for more even after I've neglected it for so long. Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that I accepted this challenge by creating it, so it's only right that I continue the journey till it's finished.

Whenever I have the time, I'll be back to update. Not sure how often I'll be back to do so but, I can definitely promise that I won't stop anytime soon. For this, is simply the beginning.

Summer's End

Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end. The summer was good while it lasted, and as I enjoy the final sunsets of the second season and prepare for a bit of "chilly" and "layering", I have but one thing on my mind...school. It seriously never ends. The good thing is that my schedule is quite flexible. The bad?(if you, the reader, even cares =P) Im studying at any chance of free time that life spares me. It's an excellent challenge which I find eccentrically exciting however, this leaves me little to no time to update this blog.

Speaking of which.
I just took my math exam...I'm positive that I failed. Don't be too quick to judge though, I studied my "ah-noose" off. I'm serious about that, I'm talking, getting off work and spending 5 hours in the library to finish up homework and study. It's disappointing really but, it does mean that I'm doing something wrong. There was one funny thing that I noticed(now that the exam is over) through all of this, there is such a thing as studying too hard(perhaps that's why I'm taking a break from studying to update this thing).

On that note, I've also been slacking on 日本語 studies. だめ！I know right? However, I did learn a new word that I found to be quite useful but, not one that should be used excessively.

Kuli'ou'ou Hike

I recently hiked up Kuli'ou'ou Trail with my friend Atsushi
Pictures are below.

Atsushi liked the big truck since there are none like it in Japan.

We took the Ridge Trail.

Some parts of the trail made the hike, into a climb.

In the end...It was all worth it.

So over the past months I've been slacking with this blog. Even if I think that no one reads it, there might be some small chance that someone does.
Therefore, I will now update you all with some interesting events that have occurred since the New Year started.

As most of you know, I do work for an online magazine appropriately titled Racesauce.com. We recently did a photoshoot of one of our models named Tsuki. This was quite fun, and below are some teasers from the shoot.

I have also taken up oil painting as one of my college courses.
So far, it's been one of the more enjoyable classes of the semester(considering that the rest are core classes, that title was not hard to earn)
Anyhow, the picture below is of one of the still life paintings I am currently working on.

Well, that's all I have time for now...off to work.

Bad luck sucks.

So in the past month I have had quite a great amount of bad luck.
So far...
My car has gotten broken into and towed
I was put on 3 day suspension from my job at Sergio's

Since my IBM backpack was stolen from my car, I have no way of uploading my pics.

Anyway, at least my newly revised schedule has allowed me to get some rest and catch up on a lot of things that I have been putting off (like this blog for example). I also need to start saving quite a bit of money considering I am planning on going to 日本 this May, roughly $5000.oo USD. I feel the Bad Luck turn around coming up soon therefore, I know I can do this. It's gonna have to take more than just a bad month to stop me from going.
I will be there this year.

I cleaned up the house.
Therefore everyone is ok.

However, my neighbor didn't appreciate the cigarette butts in his driveway.
I didn't appreciate getting the complaint at 8 am and having to go outside to clean it all up.
It's all gravy though.

I would highly recommend eating here. It's a great place to hang out with good food and great drinks.
Very reasonable prices and I would say that the average check is around $30.00 (USD) .

Ahi BI BIM BAP rollをたべて　Kona Big Wave のビイルをのみました。
とてもおいしかったです

Its a very delicious restaurant。
They have sushi, regular food, and sake.
I had the Ahi Bi BimBap Roll along with a Kona Big Wave Beer.
It was very tasty.

Photography is my medium.

My goal is to capture moments filled with beauty and emotion into a single still photograph. I will use it to document my trips, adventures, and even my daily life.
My documentation tool at the moment will be a simple 7.2MP Sony Cybershot W120. It's basically just a camera, nothing fancy, however IMO (in my opinion) worth it's price tag.
